ENROLMENT POLICY

St Mary’s Primary School caters for all students from Prep to Year 6. St Mary’s Learning Community welcomes all who wish to join and acknowledge our Christian values and traditions. Our enrolment procedure is outlined below.

Enrolment Procedure

Enrolment will be offered in the following order of priority:

1. Children who have or have had brothers and sisters in the school.
2. Children whose families are part of the Gatton and Laidley Worshipping Parish Communities and are currently registered in the Parish.
   
3. Children of Catholic families who have been practising in other Parishes and are currently registered in that Parish and move to our Parish.
4. Children of Catholic families who are part of neighbouring worshipping communities where there are no Catholic schools.
5. Children of Catholic families who do not belong to a worshipping community.
6. Children of families whose Christian faith is not of the Catholic tradition, but who practise their faith.
7. Children of families whose faith is not of the Christian tradition.

Enrolment will be reliant on a vacancy existing in the relevant year level.  When a vacancy exists, order of acceptance regarding the above priorities is according to date of enrolment application.

Children will not be excluded from St Mary’s Parish School for economic reasons related to the inability of the family to pay fees.  It would be an expectation, however, that all families would be able to make a contribution towards such fees.

While the above priorities still apply, students with special needs will only be enrolled in accordance with Brisbane Catholic Education's Policy on Enrolment and Support Procedures for Students with Special Needs.

At the discretion of the Parish Priest and the Principal, variation may be made to this policy for the pastoral needs of those concerned.​​

​Prep Enrolment Eligibility

 Enrolment Age:

• A child is eligible to commence Prep provided he/she is five years of age by 30th June of their starting year.

• A child is eligible to commence Year 1 provided he/she is five years of age by 31st December of the preceding year.

Please refer to the table below to determine in which year your child will be eligible to start in Prep or Year 1.
