Principal's Message

Here at St. Mary's we endeavour to create a caring atmosphere inspired by the Gospel values and teaching of Christ as set out in our Mission Statement.

As a Catholic School we encourage our students to:-

  • grow in relationship with God
  • develop their knowledge and understanding of God as revealed by Jesus;
  • value themselves as gifted by God;
  • develop an understanding of Catholic Tradition;
  • see a purpose in life and hope for the future.

In all aspects of school life these attributes are present and they are especially evident in Our Religious Education Programme.

St Mary's is a learning community of approximately 295 students. We are a co-educational school offering class from Prep to Yr. 6.

Within the school we work together with the pastor, parents and community to ensure that our school continues to be a place where Gospel values are nurtured and individuals learn and grow in a happy and secure environment.

The school operates within Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish which consists of the Gatton, Laidley, Forest Hill and Glenore Grove communities. We form part of the network of Brisbane Catholic Education schools.

Our school’s learning base is that of the Life-long learning attributes. We believe that children in the 21st century need to have skills which will enable them to continue to be open to change and learning in the years ahead. We aim to meet each student’s needs by providing a learning environment which is nurturing, safe and friendly.

In the pages that follow you will find a range of information about the school we are all proud of. Please enjoy your visit to our website and if you have any further enquiries  please contact us by phone or email.
