Learning & Teaching at St Mary's

St. Mary's hope to inspire a lifelong love of learning in our students. Staff aim to do this by providing rich, meaningful experiences that encourage children to:

  • Use their prior knowledge and senses.
  • Ask questions.
  • Work collaboratively.
  • Apply their new skills and knowledge to solve problems.

We challenge children to think critically about:

  • What they are learning.
  • Why they are learning it.
  • How they are progressing in their learning.

We are guided by the Australian Curriculum and Brisbane Catholic Education, and we adapt to the future needs of our children by integrating technology into independent and collaborative activities which sees:

  • Years P-2 accessing class sets of iPads,
  • Years 3-4 having 1:1 iPads
  • Years 5-6 working with 1:1 Windows devices.

At St Mary's, we strive to nurture our children to see the awe and wonder that is all around us. We encourage children to think deeply, question, seek answers and strive to make the world a better place by embracing our differences and working together.
